Summer to-do list update | Week 1 Update (June 18)

I’m going to update this weekly to help keep myself on track. Knowing I have to report back is helping me knock this stuff off the list. This is as of Thursday June 18.


Lose at least 10 lbs. My real goal is 18 but at the very least I want to fit into a particular suit and dress, and I know 2 lbs a week every week is not going to happen.

UMMM… | This one is going to be hard. The most difficult out of all of these to-do’s, actually. I did really well during the week last week for breakfasts and lunches, and didn’t have any alcohol. But this week I haven’t had Liam and have been out the last three nights. I’ve mostly made better food choices and not much to drink…so it’s getting there.

But ultimately the path is food and exercise. So with a total gym fail and no bike yet, I can’t really claim any progress.

Sell the pile of Liam’s clothes that have been sitting in my office for months.

Not yet.

List and sell all of the wedding silver on eBay.

Not yet.

Stop staying up too late during the week.

FAIL | I failed on this part of the time. I’ve been trying to finish watching a few TV shows before I have to switch PVRs from my cable company. And when I watch a series, I keep saying “oh just one more” and then the next thing I know, it’s midnight. It doesn’t help when I don’t have early morning meetings. I have to get back into a routine of sleep by 11pm and up by 7am.

Start doing yoga again at home, at least once a week.

FAILNot. at. all.

Go to the gym three times a week.

FAILI brought my gym clothes to the office one day but never went. Next week…

Settle on the dates for vacations with certain family friends.

ON TRACK | This is a funny one because we were waiting on the schedule of a certain Football team before that can happen. Tony’s football team. Sigh. But now that schedule is out and I have a couple of date options to spend in one of my favourite cities in the entire world…AND there are a few bloggers I know who live there.

So I’ve had to ask Will if he can accommodate my October long weekend and am waiting for him to respond. Then there is one more trip to plan which I’m very excited about. Can anyone say “play it again, Sam”?

Buy a bike and ride it with Liam on weekends.

ON TRACK |We picked up Liam’s new bike on the weekend and he was so delighted to have a bigger bike; I picked one out but they didn’t have the right size for my height. So I’m searching for other locations in my city that carry the same brand.

Have less owing on my line of credit.

ON TRACK  | So far so good, except for the bike. Bought a casual dress for my visit with Hy and a corset which I am super excited about. But otherwise, managed to keep extra expenses to a minimum. Even reduced my cable TV package and eliminated the movie subscription, because I have a jailbroken Apple TV and Netflix. So it’s not a huge change, $40 less a month, but the little things add up.

Book the meeting with the financial planner.

ON TRACK | I’ve emailed my financial advisor a couple of times now to get the meeting into calendars, and have been filling in the incredibly detailed spreadsheets on my assets and expenses.

Book (and do!) the boudoir photo shoot I just bought on Groupon. Yes, again…I let the last one expire.

DONE – WAITING | I booked it for August 22nd. Gah!

Finalize my updated will and powers of attorney.

DONE – WAITING | All the decisions are made and now the lawyer is finalizing the documents. I suppose it’s not totally done until it’s signed, but my lawyer’s good for it.

  1. Your boudoir photo shoot is on my wedding anniversary!

    The weight loss thing? There’s a saying- “you can’t out-exercise a bad diet” or “you can’t outrun your fork”. Diet helps you loss body fat, exercise helps you keep the muscle. Trust me, I’m a doctor 😉

  2. You made progress on complicated things – vacation planning, LOC, will, financial plan, Liam’s bike – so it’s not that bad. The upcoming week will be better.
