Thank you to Divorced and Single for nominating me for the Inspiring Blogger Award.
As I mentioned in my recent Liebster Award post, I’ve fallen a bit behind on award acceptances. I know there have been several bloggers over time who I’ve nominated and they never respond, and I don’t like to do that to others.
It’s no different than my approach to managing my email or the comments on my blog. I always respond, it just make take me a while sometimes.
Like the Liebster, I’m going to modify the rules. Since my final award is limited to women only, I thought I would pass this award on to the men in my blogging life who I particularly adore – either because they are super supportive of me on my blog, or I love their writing, or both!! In no particular order:
1. Will Carrier of Warm Creme
2. Beatnik du Jour
3. Muscleheaded Blog
4. The Hook
5. Road Dave
6. J.R. LeMar of I Blog A Lot
7. Ranting Crow (one of my original followers!)
8. Exile on Pain Street
9. Trent Lewin
10. Accidental Masturbator
Gentlemen, if you accept this award, you need to nominate up to 15 of your fellow bloggers, link back to me in your awards post (a gushing thank you is always appreciated) and instead of coming up with my own questions, why don’t you answer the ones I have below.
Here are the questions from Divorced and Single:
1. Who is your favourite public figure?
The Dalai Lama.
2. What do you like most?
Being by the ocean, cold glass of sparkling wine or beer in hand, in the sun and heat. Someday I wish to have a house where all I have to do is walk down the stairs and I can sink my feet in the sand and listen to the surf.
3. Do you follow trends?
Not really. I’ve always tended to be my own person. When it comes to clothing, while I may be inspired by trends, I won’t wear something just because it’s popular. And I really detest obvious labels – you will never see me carrying a Louis Vuitton logo print bag. While I do have some fancy things, I prefer them to be subtle.
4. What do you do when someone gets angry?
When someone is really angry and it’s directed at me, I retreat. Usually emotionally, not physically. I will often shut down. If the argument isn’t in person, I do better at dealing with it and standing up for myself.
I do have a habit of trying to convince someone of my way of thinking. I can also get very defensive. But in the face of real vitriol, rage, or hatred, I shut down.
If someone is angry and they are venting at me, usually I listen and ask questions and try to help the person work through it. Assuming that’s what they want to do. ;
5. What have you loved the most?
My son, no question.
6. Do you have causes?
I wrote a post just about this, inspired by this award!!
7. What quality do you admire the most?
Curiosity. It’s a sign of so much, and leads to so many other qualities I admire.
