The city that never sleeps…

A very close girlfriend and I will be travelling to New York City for New Year’s Eve. Two nights and days of fun. I can’t wait. She is also divorced and single.

For the last few weeks, I have been on the fence about whether to go. Last night I looked at the tattoo which reminds me to not squander the decision to leave my marriage, and made up my mind.

My Mom told me today that she was in Times Square to watch the ball drop in 1965. She spent time touring the world in the mid 60s…including Germany, Moscow, Russia (where she met my father), Japan, Vietnam, and Nepal. Oh, and Hawaii and New York City as well.

I know there are some of you who live in the city that never sleeps… we may pass each other in Times Square.

  1. Have an awesome time, Ann! That sounds divine.
I’ve only been there once and long to go back…maybe when my daughter turns 21 next year.
May your New Year be filled with magic and love. xo

  2. I’m not even sure yet what I’ll do for New Year’s Eve. That was part of my previous relationship’s problems: I never knew what to expect and tried to keep my child-free days free to see him, but never knew until the last minute if anything was going to happen or not… I guess now I can start to plan. I just may throw a party at mine. I love to throw parties, but haven’t yet in the whole year I’ve been free. It may actually be nice, a few friends are going to be around, so… I just may go for it. At least we won’t be freezing our asses off… that is, those of us who don’t smoke won’t. The other ones, well… the weather can be quite cold where I live, it’s 34ΒΊF right now πŸ˜‰
But enjoy! Whatever you do, enjoy it!

    • DO IT. Throw your party. You will feel so good doing something you didn’t get to do before. I know of what I speak πŸ™‚

It’s partly what triggered me to make the decision to go to NYC. Not so much because being there is on my bucket list, but just because I CAN go. I want to, I’m free, so why the heck not. My ex and I talked about going and we never went. So, no time like the present.

  3. Wow, NYC, an awesome city!

I watched the ball drop in Times Square several years ago. It will be insanely crowded. On the one hand, you have to go out early if you want to be close enough to see anything. On the other hand, there are very limited restrooms so it can be torturous to be packed outside for hours and hours (while drinking).

Still, have a blast!!! Can’t wait to read about it later πŸ˜€

    • I have heard about this bathroom challenge… I looked at one party where you can see the ball and it sounded great until I noticed the $1000 pp price tag! That’s a little pricey for me πŸ™‚

    • I’ve been a couple of times this year already and am frankly trying to keep costs down if possible. So, wanna meet me and my other tall blonde single friend? Just happen to run into you in a crowded bar? Lol….

  4. Ann, Welcome to my little part of the world!
I hope that you and your friend have an amazing time in Times Square NYE ringing in the new year! Health & Happiness to you and your son in 2015!

  5. The City That Never Sleeps is about to meet the Blogger Who Never Blinks?
    Should be epic!
Have fun, Ann, take pics and don’t hold back with your close girlfriend! (Take that any way you like.)

  6. If you want to be ANYWHERE where you can actually see the ball drop you’ll need to be there by 10 AM…seriously. I had a friend go a few years ago and they got there at noon and were 6 blocks away from the ball. It’s an experience… Check out the museum of Sex while you’re in town. It’s not as juicy as it ought to be, but it’s still fun and worth the visit if you have the time. Enjoy!

  7. So pissed I got to read this now. Im kicking myself as I was IN the city that evening having dinner as my plans to go out and party down at the W Hotel (by World Trade Center) got cancelled. I would have made an appearance, and who knows where that would have lead πŸ˜‰

Hope you and your single friend come to visit again…

  8. So pissed I missed your email…Jblondie stayed home, if I had read it earlier I totally would have come out..hell I was IN the city that night.

We shall meet at another time….whether in your neck of the woods or mine πŸ™‚

What do you think?
