Writing my post earlier put me into a bit of a funk. I heard from that blogger-who-shall-not-be-named, accusing me of ruining other people’s lives. Which of course makes no sense whatsoever but still, I don’t like hearing that kind of shit. Then an innocent question posed in a comment got my mind into a tailspin… so I got no work done at all and now am trying to focus on good things and get my ass in gear to work later when my son goes to sleep.
So I thought I would try to think of a few things that make me really happy, other than the obvious (friends, family, orgasms)…
1. Furry animals
There used to be a webcam with hamsters that you could watch but I can’t find it. They make me giggle. Here’s a good example from Washington – kittens at a shelter. They play, they are furry, and awesome: Kitten Cam
I also get cheered up by looking at the “small & furry” animal adoption sites…like this one from Toronto, Canada: Small & Furry for Adoption
And this one from London UK has a “fish” section which makes me giggle… Fish Adoption (yes, I know they don’t count as furry)
2. Feist’s version of “1 2 3 4” for Sesame Street
The problem, if any, is now I sing this version instead of the real words when it comes up on my iPod.
3. “Great Balls of Fire” by Jerry Lee Lewis
There are so many others to list, but this came on whilst writing this post.
There are no words. She is brilliant.
5. My son.
My 6 year-old singing along to One Direction’s “You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful”. Or “Sixteen Tons”. Or “Jammin”. Or catching him humming “Flight of the Valkyries” by Wagner (true!!). Okay. Him singing along to anything makes me extraordinarily happy.
Alright. I watched those videos and thought about my son and I’m in a better place. Thanks for coming along for the ride.
